The Ghoul of Eldritch Manor!

We've had quite a few inquiries about the Bernard Baily cover for HAUNTED HORROR #6 (coming in August), especially after the unnerving unveiling a few weeks ago on Facebook. And like today's corpse desecrating classic tale, it's also from the January 1953 issue of Beware Terror Tales #5-- but with one slight difference-- the HH cover features the ghoulish horror host grin of Mr. Karswell instead of the goofy Fawcett Mummy host! I'll have more from this issue in our next post/s.

Definitely inspired in some capacity by Lovecraft's "The Rats in the Walls". After all, even back then, how many writers apart from old H.P. himself had a moth-eaten word like "eldritch" in their lexicon?

Mestiere, because of the cold and lack of coffee, the blood-sugar of the officers dropped below a threshold right after they spotted Ellison entering the tomb. They naturally went into a doughnut trance, only emerging from this after Ellison too had eaten.

The Eldritch clan has a lot more problems then ghoul heredity ... they seem to think it's a good idea to label all coffins in the Eldritch Mausoleum as "Eldritch."

I'd hate to see their filing system!

Given the choice of hereditary disorders, would ghoulish behavior be worse than say diabetes or alcoholism?
Sarcasm off!

This tale was tame compared to the Eerie redraw as featured on The Bloody Pulp, June 14, 2010, titled "The Hungry Ghoul". I guess even back in the fifties there were some images that were just too taboo to draw.

No wonder he's a little morbid, with a name like Eldritch, and living in Eldritch manor. Lovecraft
would have loved this one.
